Pathways to Prosperity Assists Families to Break Out of Poverty

With a master’s degree in educational leadership from Florida A&M University, Guarn A. Sims has held leadership positions at schools and school districts in Florida for the past 15 years. Besides his career in education, Guarn A. Sims is a principal at Bright Futures Academy and supports charities such as Pathways to Prosperity.

Pathways to Prosperity is a nonprofit that strengthens the community by offering programs geared toward preparing young students for education. It also provides social services to enhance local schools’ performances and to avail of economic opportunities for families. For the latter, Pathways to Prosperity has partnered with Circles USA to forge a partnership between local families and CIRCLE Allies. This creates a direct path for these families to benefit from mentorships with people trained to help others achieve their goals.

Circles USA firmly believes that success in academics and life, in general, is influenced by a person or family’s direct relations and “circle” of acquaintances. Therefore, when individuals surround themselves with positive influences, people who motivate them, mentor them, and challenge them, they will have a better chance of breaking out of poverty.

Through the program, participating families, CIRCLE Leaders, are paired with Allies who provide them with support, constructive advice, and accountability partnerships. With each step a family makes forward, the society around is also lifted.
